Facial Rejuvenation Surgery

THE PURPOSE OF FACIAL SURGERY IS

TO TAKE YEARS OFF  OF YOUR FACE

Above all, it is necessary to explain what occurs in the aging process of your face and how it is related to four key factors:

The sun

Cigarette smoking

Gravity

Age

These factors all weaken the elastic fibers that give support and a youthful appearance to your face.  And once you have lost this elastic support, gravity relentlessly tugs downward producing the typical sagging appearance we associate with advanced aging.

Surgical procedures for facial rejuvenation were initiated at the beginning of the twentieth century and have made tremendous progress since then.

In the very beginning they were only able to remove a section of skin in front of the ear.  Today the treatment is much improved:  it has been discovered that the face is composed of a complex system, called SMAS, which supplies the underlying support for all facial tissues.

That is why we raise the eyebrows, remove any excess skin from the eyelids, the neck and the cheeks while eliminating the wrinkles from between your eyes and on your forehead and the fold that forms on the side of your mouth, the nose and the cheeks that scientists have named the melolabial flap.

the techniques that we utilize are:

Forehead Lift

This procedure consists of an incision hidden by your hair through which we have access to the muscles that have caused the wrinkles in your forehead and eyebrow area, allowing us to erase all those wrinkles and even raise your eyebrows if they have fallen.

Mid Face Lift

This procedure refers to the area of the face that covers the eyelids, the mouth line (melolabial flap), the cheeks and any sagging skin along the jaw line and is very successful at putting all of these back in place.

Cervicoplasty

This surgery includes all the surgical procedures necessary to eliminate a double chin and any ugly wrinkle lines that have formed in the neck area .

MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY:  Some of these procedures can be done through small (endoscopic) incisions and achieve outstanding results, especially in the upper region of the face (forehead).

The sun

The sun effects the skin by emitting almost limitless radiation, the most important being ultraviolet..

There are two kinds of ultraviolet rays that reach the earth, the UVA (330 to 400nm) and UVB (290 to 320 nm). UVB (Ultraviolet B) radiation is one of the principal factors that causes alterations to skin cell DNA, ultimately basal and intracellular cancer.  In addition, there is additional evidence that UVA radiation promotes skin cancer.

Another problem caused by solar radiation is the skin disease Actinic Keratosis, which results from excessive sun exposure. This disease is, in fact, considered pre-malignant skin damage that requires treatment to prevent the patient from potentially developing skin cancer.
